Key findings from PSG’s Human Resource Planning in the Current Economy report include:

• Of all the changes employers are considering in this economy, altering the mix between base pay, incentives, benefits and intangible rewards is the most popular.
• While 30 percent of respondents said they will consider ensuring that pay is in line with the market, 40 percent said they are not considering it.
• The majority of respondents said they will not change their staffing levels of either full-time or temporary employees.
• The most popular strategies for keeping workforces at an appropriate size are to hire temporary or part-time employees instead of full-time employees and to strengthen the link between performance and pay.
• The most popular recruiting and retention strategies are to invest in low-cost training, change recruiting focus, develop a succession plan and develop a new talent management plan.
